House

Buying a house is the one of the worst experiences I can think of that is commonly endured but still highly desired. Keep in mind that I consider buying shoes to be as pleasurable as picking up dog feces. In general, large purchases stress me out like visits to the operating table. So having surgery while house hunting was a little unnerving for me. The whole process up to making an offer feels like buying a car, another experience I dislike.   Until closing, I need constant reassurance about my decision so I can sleep soundly at night.

In the end, the results are usually pleasant. After you buy a car, you get to drive it home and learn every little feature, then change the oil and welcome it to the family. With a house, you get to sleep under your own roof. Only when camping could I claim to have done that (as long as a tent has a roof). To reduce this blog to a single sentence: large financial decisions stress me out.
